When the Beach Boys crooned about a little deuce coupe, most people identified with a prewar Ford Hot Rod. For Chevrolet fans a bit more enlightened by the brands modern offerings, something like this 1966 Chevy II may have come to mind. The car here is a Super Sport-styled hardtop and has already been restored and updated. From a marketing standpoint, Chevrolet was transitioning during this time period, and this would be the final year the Chevy II Nova body style stood alone between the Corvair and Chevelle, as the Camaro arrived for 1967. Moreover, thanks to the efforts of Bill Grumpy Jenkins, the 1966 year was a highlight for racing fans as The Grump chased Hemi cars competitively in NHRA A/Stock class with a car nearly identical in design to this one.
This car carries on that tradition with even stronger fare, as a modern LS-type engine has been installed underneath the customized cowl-induction style hood. The engine uses headers and dual exhaust to breathe freely, and a 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission is installed behind it. The paint is rich, deep black, and the body design remains very popular thanks to its heritage. The rear-fender Super Sport emblems add class, but the 350 crossed-flag front fender callouts give no clue as to what lurks underneath the hood.
The car is classy inside as well, with bright red upholstery including a split bench front seat and red door panels. The dash layout was left in OEM form, with a red top pad. The brightwork on the outside of this car included full drip rail and wheel well moldings, the stamped grille with a Chevy II emblem, narrow rear panel insert and premium lower rocker moldings. The OEM-level stance maintained as well, with the final touch here being 18'' all chrome wheels with new rubber to take you anywhere! If a Chevrolet little deuce coupe is indeed what you have in mind, this classic hardtop is ready for you, and they don't know what you got.
